# 2 IMPROVISATION was produced thanks to a grant provided by the city of Geneva and were created in collaboration with Marion Baeriswyl (CH), Aïcha El Fishawy (CH) and Olga Uzikaeva (RU) from Projet h107 (a residential centre for experimental contemporary dance in Geneva).
# 2 IMPROVISATION was performed in December 2021 in a white box in Geneva and was conceived as two parts:
Part 1: Marion, Aisha and Olga were asked to improvise in a new installation which again used the colour blue, as well as mixing in the colour orange, which complements it.
This time there wasn’t a clear line of direction to guide the dancers, their movements were guided only by chain reactions. The choreography was initiated with suggestions of dance movements, which then evolved in direct relation to the dancers’ actual movements, as well as in relation to the elements that were then moved around within the space.
Part 2: As Part 1 came to an end the dancers quietly found fixed resting positions, whilst remaining in close contact and proximity to one another.
After a pause to allow them to gather breath, I intervened and altered the position of the elements that surrounded them. Whilst I did this the dancers remained in their positions. The changes were, for example, moving the position of a wooden dowelling rod or using one of the moveable elements to apply a slight pressure on the back of the dancer’s neck, thus altering their posture.
Once the modifications were completed a measured dance could then begin. Marion, Olga and Aisha had to move around within the structure, constantly changing position, whilst remaining in close contact with one another. Thus, the idea of a chain reaction, the driving force of the choreography, was always to the forefront. However, the close proximity of the dancers, as well as the changing position of the elements, modified the nature of their movements.
For the whole time during the dance performance, I continued to intervene regularly, progressively modifying the surrounding structure, thus destabilising the environment for the bodies, as they gradually merged, to become one blinkered, hybrid entity.

Partie 2 : au terme de la partie 1, les danseuses trouvaient doucement un point d’ancrage en se positionnant de manière à se connecter les unes aux autres.
Après un moment de respiration, j’intervenais en changeant la place des éléments autour d’elles. Pendant cette opération, les danseuses restaient dans leurs positions. Les modifications consistaient par exemple à dévier l’axe d’un tourillon de bois ou bien, d’appliquer une légère pression avec un élément sur la nuque d’une des danseuses transformant sa posture.
Les modifications terminées, une danse au ralenti pouvait alors commencer. Marion, Olga et Aisha devaient se mouvoir au sein de cette structure en perpétuel changement tout en restant connectés l’une avec l’autre. L’effet de cascade, moteur de la chorégraphie était toujours présent. Cependant, la promiscuité des danseuses entre elles ainsi qu’avec les éléments modifiait la nature des mouvements.
Durant toute la durée de la traversée, je continuais à intervenir régulièrement modifiant petit à petit la structure environnante, brouillant ainsi les pistes pour ce corps devenu une masse hybride et aveugle.
